| Fortunately we, the citizens of the United States, are beginning to understand our food a little better. It helps to have a sense of humor and patience as you come to understand and help others understand ... and this, My Dears, is priceless and quality humor! | My husband, Billy, recently started reading The Maker's Diet. It began to confirm some suspicions that Billy and my daughter react very strongly to pasteurized and homogenized milk. Billy began to look for a farm that sells fresh organic goat milk. Unfortunately it was/is kidding season (no kidding! really). So, the farms were not selling to new customers and their regular customers are being rotated through a waiting list.
But a funny thing happened on the way to locating the local farms. He discovered two sites that help people connect with local farms and farmer's markets.
The first is Local Harvest. It is a very straightforward site that helps you find resources for everything from seeds to choosing a local restaurant that purchases food from local farms.
Then there's the Sustainable Table. They are very strong on the education side ... as well as finding the resources. They have helps for figuring out how to apply the nitty gritty changes that eating responsibly causes. They also teach and help you teach.
Sustainable Table is where Billy met up with (and introduced me to) Moopheus, Leo, and Chickety in The Meatrix! It is absolutely priceless!
If there are young ones in your household or if you need some table/desk mates, don't miss out on the Moopheus, Leo, and Chickety FINGER PUPPETS!! How cool is that? (Ok don't tell me if that phrase is going out.) But these are ambitious finger puppets. They wanna go shopping with you!
Yes, I am indeed addicted to the little movie so it thrilled me to no end to find out that there is a Meatrix II coming out on March 29th!

I received a thank you note this morning from Moopheus's assistant, Diane. They all appreciate the plug for the Meatrix films. They also have a web site, EatWellGuide.org to help consumers connect with organic and small farms -- specifically meat, dairy, and eggs. It is also straightforward and easy to use.

Moopheus has one fantastic assistant in Diane! Last night it was discovered that my link to the FingerPuppets was no longer correct. So, I dropped Diane a note asking her for assistance. Already, this morning, I have received a reply.
On the Sustainable Table website there is information on how to Get Involved. There are several useful handouts. Half-way down the page is a link to the FINGERPUPPETS and above that is a link to a great Meatrix poster.
